Happy birthday Jake!
My mom taught me that there's a Keeper of Dreams--one who holds all that we dare dream of in trust for us, till that juncture in time when the dream is ripe. Of course there are many factors which can cause our dreams to go awry, including our own doubts and fears. But the power to realize our dreams is nonetheless within us, and without us in the timing of life.
I know many join me in wishing Jake the ripening of his dreams--in art and in life--in the coming year. Happy 28th to you, Jake! Thanks for the ways in which your contributions to the arts have helped us realize dreams in our own lives.

And yes indeed, may all your dreams come true. Even, as Kim said, you have helped so many others with your talent and wisdom and yes, your humor to realize theirs.
You were so full of promise when you portrayed Jack Twist and went directly to a permanent place in our hearts. It was perhaps unrealistic, even unfair, to expect that impact to be repeated. But you followed your dreams and took us with you to ever greater heights. Thank you for letting us dream with you. It's part of the gift you give people all over the world every day.
Please know that you are appreciated and loved. On this special day and always.

Just wanted to let you know how much I too appreciate your comments! Welcome to the blog!
It seems that one of the most important contributions Jake has made to the arts is the bridge his work has created between people and their cultures, between people and their pasts, and between people and their futures.
One of the best things that happened to me in the past couple years was finding this bridge to others of you who have been impacted by Jake's work, and to events in the past which can help free the future.
I can't wish anything better than for you, and for us all, to enjoy this bridge in 2009! A belated happy new year, and welcome once again to this blog!
Thank you so much Kim! I always said that Jake fans are different from the rest, and I am sure that he would be proud to know that serious-minded people do appreciate his work and take a film like Rendition beyond a simple artistic statement.
And yes, it is amazing to see that bridge between cultures. He himself is a product of so many, and I would like to think that his outlook and his choice of roles reflect not just a parochial mentality, but a greater awareness of issues and events as a whole.
